The DFDIR system uses intelligent modules and intuitive software to restore power quickly, reliably, and affordably — with or without SCADA integration.
Southern States’ DFDIR solution combines the Smart Automation Module (SAM) and Smart Automation Management System (SAMS) to bring fast, cost-effective fault detection, isolation, and restoration to distribution networks. Designed for both new installations and retrofits, the SAM device (6” x 4.5” x 3”) integrates seamlessly into any recloser or breaker control cabinet, allowing utilities to retain their existing protection controls while adding automation flexibility. It can seamlessly integrate with SCADA via DNP 3.0 and is compatible with a wide range of communication infrastructures, including fiber, cellular, and radio.
With SAMS software, utilities gain a centralized, user-friendly platform to manage automation systemwide. The intuitive interface simplifies setup, allowing new circuits to be configured in minutes, while built-in simulation tools help validate logic before field deployment. Together, this platform brings decentralized fault response with centralized visibility and control — improving reliability and reducing outage time.
