Reliable, enclosed-arc switching for transformer protection

Our versatile interrupters perform in any orientation and can be configured with or without an integral disconnect.

The Southern States' horizontal interrupter circuit switchers are engineered for transformer protection on systems with fault currents up to 40 kA — all while eliminating open air arcs by performing make and break operations entirely in SF₆. These interrupters are available with or without an integral vertical break switch and can be installed in horizontal, upright, or vertical configurations.

Each model offers exceptional mounting flexibility: attach to existing substation structures, custom supports, or Southern States frames. The CSH(2)-B variant is ideal for mobile substation use, with composite housings that allow the unit to be shipped fully pressurized — no special crating or shielding required.

Key Benefits:

  1. All switching in SF₆ — no open air arcs
  2. Available with or without vertical break disconnect
  3. Visual dielectric indication for added safety
  4. Pressurized transport with composite or shielded porcelain housing
  5. Accommodates a wide range of mounting heights, orientations, and phase spacings
  6. Ideal for retrofits — upgrade the interrupting capability of existing switchers, fuses, or disconnects using current structures
  7. Backed by Southern States' 24/7 after-sales support and long-life engineering
