Southern States manual operator options include the manual swing handle, the HOGO gear operator, and the SEGO (Safety Enhanced Gear Operator). The SEGO design features a self-locking mechanism to prevent back-driving of the handle — an important safety enhancement. Unless otherwise specified, the manual operator is selected based on key application variables such as break type, kV rating, continuous current, accessory types, mounting configuration, and more.
Southern States motor operators offer automated switching capabilities both locally at the substation and remotely from a control center. With a wide range of torque and speed options, these operators can drive many switch types — including Southern States and other manufacturers’ equipment. Motor operators are available in a variety of AC (115V, 230V) and DC (24V, 48V, 125V, 250V) voltages. The VM-1 and VM-1SE models are widely adopted across OEM and aftermarket sectors to automate existing switches.
The CM-4AE motor operator is the standard motor solution for Southern States horizontal interrupter circuit switchers. It includes a durable aluminum enclosure, open-close push buttons, and convenient maintenance features for field technicians.
