This renewable intertie solution offers transformer protection and mitigates inrush currents and resulting voltage drop to improve reliability and power quality while interconnecting DERs.
The Southern States TranSwitcher® is engineered to protect power transformers and mitigate inrush currents and resulting voltage drop during energization — especially in distribution systems that intertie with solar/ battery farms and other distributed energy resources (DERs). By introducing a “soft close” using resistive elements, the TranSwitcher® reduces inrush currents, mitigates voltage dips, and helps avoid ferroresonance events that can impact DER integration.
Designed to extend transformer life and improve power quality, the TranSwitcher® combines long-life vacuum interrupters, solid insulation, and built-in voltage sensing in a compact, field-ready form factor. It’s available in pole-mount or pad-mount configurations for seamless deployment in both new and retrofit applications.
