UPDATE: August 2021

With the increased transmissibility of the COVID-19 Delta Variant, Southern States’ and its suppliers are facing increased challenges to meet our customers needs. Southern States continues to work hard to fulfill open orders and deliver critically needed materials.  We recognize the role we play as an essential provider of products and services in maintaining reliability of the electrical grid and, by extension, preserving lives.

Southern States has taken all prudent measures to protect our employees and their families during these extraordinary conditions. We have dispersed salaried workers who can be reasonably effective while working remotely. We have undertaken robust screening activities for all persons who enter the facility. Travel by employees is limited and must be approved by management. We are engaged in extraordinary cleaning/sterilization of surfaces. Employees practice social distancing to the extent possible.  We are employing the best practices based on the most current information available in order to keep our people safe and our production operating. Our facilities are open for scheduled customer visits.

Manufacturing and Prioritization of Work

We are currently operating at normal levels but it is expected that we will see an increase in absenteeism due to the increase in transmissibility of the Delta variant. We continue to have employees quarantine as they await test results from close contact notifications, due to a family member that tested positive, or as a result of testing positive for COVID-19.

Customer Service and Technical Support

We continue to offer our 24/7 customer service and technical support by phone. Our field service team is now able to travel, but must receive approval from management before travelling.

Supply Chain Disruptions

Southern States is vertically integrated to a large extent and maintains stock on many of the component materials. We are in constant communications with our vendors and continue seek every available opportunity to expedite deliveries to meet shipment requirements. The increased demand has led to increasing price pressure on material, packaging, and freight costs. While productivity has improved, Southern States is forced to increase prices for many of our products to help offset these cost increases.

Availability of material (both raw material and vendor supplied components) are creating some major challenges to meet current product shipping commitments and provide guaranteed lead-times for new orders. It is extremely important to maintain a high level of communication with your Southern States Manufacturer’s Representative or Southern States salesperson to ensure continuity.

Transit Route Disruptions (Domestic & International)

We are seeing increased demand for shipping exceeding the available supply. Costs for incoming freight as well as outgoing freight have increased dramatically and it is becoming extremely difficult to provide guaranteed delivery dates.

Thank you for your support and cooperation in these challenging times.  We are taking all steps possible to maintain our capability to provide the needed product and services. Updates will continue to be made weekly unless there is an event that results in a significant change.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank You,
