IT Manager

Location: Hampton, Georgia

Position Summary:

  • Responsible for managing SSL IT (Infrastructure, Applications, Helpdesk, Security) operations
  • Manages personnel to ensure the development and implementation of systems applications programs are on time and within budgets
  • Develops short- and long-term applications systems plans that are consistent with the needs and priorities of the business
  • Assist the organization to go through the ERP migration from legacy system

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements under general supervision.
  • Maintain legacy system and work with ERP vendor to plan the migration path, timeline, implementation and training
  • Conduct business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analyses to align information technology solutions with business needs and initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Manage IT Projects including filtering, prioritizing, planning, and staffing.
  • Implement a project management system to ensure that all active projects are properly tracked.
  • Follow ITIL guidelines to run an efficient Helpdesk
  • Work with MSP (Managed Service Provider) and other vendors to ensure availability, reliability and stability of IT infrastructure and application systems to ensure end user productivity
  • Develop project Dashboard to give leadership visibility of requests and work in progress
  • Track project requests and insure response to initial inquiry within 90 days.
  • Participate in departmental strategic planning processes; provides recommendations on policies and goals desired; and implements new/revised programs according to established guidelines.
  • Actively pursue issue resolution, and communicate project status/issues to business stakeholders and operational management.
  • Follow Best Practice methodologies for the design, development, testing, and deployment of all organizational software applications.
  • Update source code and ensure it is added to source control system.
  • Standardize developer tools across the department.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, implementation, and integration of custom-built and COTS software applications and integration tools/processes (MAI / Manbase, Salesforce, etc.).
  • Provide architectural alternative analysis (including build vs. buy) on requests for new systems or major enhancements to existing systems.
  • Applications/Database Management: responsible for creating and adherence to coding standards and for the successful and effective solution design, test design, and solution implementation.
  • Ensure tracking of all application incidents in the incident management tool with SLA/Knowledgebase.
  • Manage ER Model and update database schema as required
  • Lead, mentor, and manage staff to optimize performance.
  • Assess technical skills, identify training needs and opportunities, and ensure that required materials and tools are available for direct reports to perform their job responsibilities.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in IT or equivalent with supervisory, project management, consulting, and business process reengineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have proven knowledge in computer programming language including 5+ years as a solutions architect, experience as a full stack developer (Microsoft.NET/Web Services/C#).
  • Must have database expertise (SQL server 2012/2014/Access).
  • Exposure to Outsystems (Good to have)
  • Understanding and familiarity of Active Directory, HP Storage systems, Barracuda firewall, VOIP systems, Azure / AWS Cloud is important
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on-time with limited resources.
  • Must have expert knowledge of the systems development life cycle.
  • Must be able to develop, implement and present applications development strategies.
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management and to influence business partners.
  • Must be a problem solver, and adept at assimilating new technologies.
  • Effective team builder. Experience motivating cross-functional teams in a high performance environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues and concepts clearly and be an advisor to clients.
  • Must be able to consider, anticipate, plan, and implement change, system installations, and upgrades with minimal impact on users.
  • Detail oriented yet also able to think ‘big picture’ and understand the key trends and levers that impact a business.
  • Ability to handle a high degree of ambiguity and a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively at the same time and to work effectively under deadline constraints.
  • Strong sense of accountability and business partnership.
  • PMP or CSM certifications preferable.
